A trip to Snape Maltings today for a special lunch, gave us the opportunity to wander around the shops there, and although we don’t spend a lot of time shopping normally, this really is a special place.
The huge open space of the main gallery is beautifully laid out, particularly now that we are not too far from Christmas, and I defy anyone to go there and not buy something – the range of furnishings and kitchen bits and pieces is astonishing. Snape Maltings is a fascinating complex of old Victorian buildings which are still being converted to a mix of apartments and shops, and the scenery outside is just stunning.
The dining room, next to the vast auditorium has windows the whole length giving a superb panorama of the river meandering through reed beds to a church in the distance.
Whilst there, I was lucky enough to capture a photograph of a marsh harrier hovering over the reeds, through the window,so not a top quality photo, but then, it was around 200 yards away.
