Southwold’s first Arts festival at the end of the month, is sure not to be the last. A week of diverse entertainment from The Opera Babes performing arias in St Edmunds Church, to A 20 minute slideshow of families snapshots of their holidays in the 20s and 30s in #Southwold, with appropriate poetry and songs. A perfect accompaniment to a week in Mandalay.
The High Street in Southwold was closed on the first Saturday of the Festival for all sorts of Street entertainment and activities.

The Buckenham Gallery in the High Street had an exhibition of paintings of Southwold through the ages, and also a spectacular quilt, composed of many handcrafted pictures of shops and buildings around the town.
Tim’s Vermeer. The Electric Picture Palace showed a fascinating documentary film about an American designer, who although never having painted in his life, painstakingly re-created a Vermeer canvas, using techniques of mirrors and lenses that he believed the artist must have used to capture the almost photographic image quality that he achieved.
